Judy Johnson: Director of Business District Services
Judy Johnson (she/her) serves as the Director of Business District Services for the 50th& France Business District. Her purview encompasses board governance, financial and strategic planning, organizing small-business community activations, effective promotions, curating seasonal decor, and festival planning. She leads a team that includes event, communication, community engagement, and urban planning specialists.
Judy brings with her over 20 years of public service. She currently serves as a Metropolitan Council Member, appointed by Governor Walz in March 2019. She is a former City of Plymouth mayor and council member. She served as aboard member and president of the League of Minnesota Cities, earning the League’s highest award for public service. With over 15 years working in business led and nonprofit organizations, Judy brings experience from previous roles in housing at Prosperity’s Front Door, economic development at GREATER MSP, and community relations and government affairs at the TwinWest Chamber of Commerce. Judy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Metropolitan State University with an emphasis in communications and public relations. She also attended the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Aligning values to inspire action and get results is part of Judy’s personal and professional mission. Her influences include: The Platinum Rule “treat others how they would like to be treated”, local public officials who work tirelessly to improve their communities, unsung heroes who give generously of their time and talents toensure a brighter future for all, and her mother. Places that have influenced her include: Rio’s Christ the Redeemer statue, Moscow’s Red Square, London Bridge and Big Ben, Galway City Center, US Capitol, City of Plymouth Hilde Performance Center, Minnesota’s lakes and trails, white water rafting in Colorado, sitting by the ocean watching the sun set.
