Retail and Main Streets

Creating vibrant business centers
Let us help you harness the power of placemaking to drive sales to your business or shopping district. We help our clients create places that:
  • Attract people to your business, district, or shopping center
  • Lengthen their stay once they have arrived
  • Keep them coming back for more

Customers are increasingly looking for unique and social experiences in addition to goods and services. The Musicant Group can help you improve your customers’ entire experience from arrival and parking to point of sale and departure.

We drive revenue to your business or shopping district by bringing to bear our firm’s experience in:
  • Public and common area design and management
  • Crafting innovative wayfinding and marketing strategies
  • Event planning and execution
  • Retail recruitment
  • Community organizing and outreach

Experience Southwest – Bike and Pedestrian Promotion

The Musicant Group was retained to boost sales to area businesses by increasing biking and walking. We developed an innovative pilot project along Grand Avenue (Minneapolis) and its four major business nodes which resulted in merchants and customers clamoring for reclaimed pedestrian areas! Countless customers broke out of their old habits and walked between nodes that were only blocks away, but had never visited – opening up the opportunity for future sales growth along the corridor long after our work came to a close.

Main Street Shakopee

The Musicant Group was retained to assist with the continued revitalization of Downtown Shakopee as a valuable place for businesses, area residents, and visitors.  This was envisioned in an action plan, mapping exercise, and a Move and Make on Main community event.

Our recommendations focused on improving the user experience: providing more things to do, see, and experience in the Downtown Main Street Shakopee. These experiences are shaped through Downtown’s physical elements, its stewardship, and the activities that happen there.

Downtown Robbinsdale - West Broadway Main Street

The Musicant Group was retained to create a placemaking activation plan on how the city and area businesses could:
  • Enhance the brand and awareness of Downtown Robbinsdale
  • Generate more customer trips
  • Extend the length of stay of customers
  • Enhance the visitor experience
  • Better utilize and activate a little-used plaza at the heart of their main street
Since delivering the report, the City has been aggressively implementing our recommendations to much success!

Albertville Crossing Center

The Musicant Group was retained by Hempel, a commercial real estate company, to host a community event to boost local business at the Albertville Crossing Center.  During the event, we gathered feedback and ideas from the Albertville community on what they want to see happen in the area along with family- friendly and fun entertainment.

Fair State Brewing Cooperative

The Musicant Group was retained by Fair State Brewing Cooperative to stage a unique, engaging, and affordable launch event for their business.

We secured a unique and affordable former bag factory as a venue, worked with Little & Co. agency to develop branded experiences and games for participants, as well as promoting the event and manage day of activities.  Hundreds attended, dozens of memberships were sold, and fantastic beer was served!

Vadnais Square Shopping Center

The Musicant Group was retained by Platinum Properties to envision new and improved common areas within Vadnais Square, a well designed and maintained Target and grocery anchored shopping center. The common areas left much to be desired and were a potential roadblock to Platinum Properties’ efforts to reposition Vadnais Square up-market.

Our Solutions
  • Create safer and more interesting pedestrian pathways
  • Re-launch and expand the Vadnais Square brand
  • Transform the “no man’s land” common areas into inviting places where people want to be
Results
  • 50%+ of Jersey Mikes’ customers who order food at the counter use remodeled common area
  • 90% of Cherry Berry customers use remodeled common area
  • “We have customers that use the new seating area while they wait for a bike, with quite a few then going on to get Cherry Berry as well. It’s great to see the upgrades to the center.” -Manager, Erik’s Bike Shop
